Founded in 2002 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA) is the premier K-12 program for schools throughout Los Angeles County and the Lucerne Valley. We partner with numerous national and local organizations to provide high-quality free programs to the students we serve.

ABOUT US
After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA) is a premiere school-based expanded learning program provider, serving students with the greatest needs and fewest resources throughout Los Angeles County and Lucerne Valley. ASAS-LA operates in 71 (K-12) public and charter school locations as an independent 501(c3), offering its programs to more than 25,000 students per year. Participating schools include 32 middle schools, 20 high schools, 16 elementary schools and 2 K-12 Schools.

ASAS-LA takes a holistic approach to extended-day learning and structures our programs around Four Pillars
Academics & Homework Support
Provides students with assistance in their academic work from homework to class projects, particularly in core subjects such as math and English, and supplements the overall curriculum of their regular school day through enhanced complimentary learning.
Health, Fitness & Nutrition
Focuses on a diverse array of structured activities relating to physical and nutritional health that teach students the importance of having well balanced diets, daily exercise and play, healthy living, leadership, and community service.
Visual & Performing Arts
Provides students with unique and experiential opportunities to explore multiple aspects of the arts, to develop and enhance their visual and performance talents through activities like dance and painting, and to build their social, creative, and emotional skills.
Youth Leadership & Community Service Learning
Educates students on the practical definition of leadership, its roles and applications, and the process of identifying and electing leaders for the betterment of schools and communities, and meeting real needs of their peers, families and neighborhoods.

Our Kids deserve safe places to learn, grow, and dream beyond the school day. But as Congress faces tight spending limits for FY2027, many afterschool and summer programs are at risk—just when kids need them most.
These programs keep students safe, support working families, spark curiosity, and open doors to new opportunities. Yet too many families are still waiting for access.

Lorenso Vilsama’s journey is one of resilience. 💪🌎 Born in Haiti and raised in Brazil, he moved to Los Angeles at 12 for better educational opportunities. Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new country and language, he stayed focused and succeeded in school📚
In 2023, he joined After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles, where he found community through sports and the QUEST workforce readiness program, building confidence, leadership skills, and lasting friendships. Today, Lorenso is motivated and ready to take on new opportunities. 🌟
